Before a puppy is ever planned

Health decisions begin with the parents.

Screening is not one universal checklist. We use breed-relevant information, veterinary guidance, family history, and the whole dog when considering a pairing.

01
Structural health

Hip and elbow evaluation

Parents are evaluated for sound structure before a pairing is considered. Results and the evaluation method used for a planned litter are available to prospective families.

Parent results available
02
Vision

Companion-animal eye exam

Australian Shepherds can inherit several eye conditions. Breeding dogs receive an appropriate ophthalmic examination, with current results reviewed before breeding.

Eyes examined
03
Genetics

Breed-relevant DNA screening

Our screening plan considers conditions relevant to Australian Shepherds, which may include MDR1, CEA, PRA-prcd, HSF4, DM, and other tests appropriate to the individual dog.

Pairings reviewed carefully
04
Individual puppy

Veterinary wellness exam

Each puppy receives a veterinary wellness examination before going home. Families receive the available health record for their individual puppy.

05
Preventive care

Vaccination and deworming record

Age-appropriate preventive care is recorded and shared so your veterinarian can continue the puppy’s schedule without guesswork.

Our relationship

Written health commitment

The exact health terms are provided in writing before placement. We encourage every family to read the agreement carefully and ask questions before making a decision.

Clear terms before pickup
Transparency matters

Specific tests, results, and contract terms can vary by litter and jurisdiction. Ask to review the records and signed agreement applicable to your puppy before placing a deposit.

The written health commitment

Clear expectations.
No handshake promises.

Every family receives the applicable written health agreement to review before their puppy goes home. The signed document—not marketing copy—is the source of truth for coverage and responsibilities.
